Sonic Blazes into Google with Release Date Announcement

The next chapter in the Sonic the Hedgehog saga is speeding towards theaters! Paramount Pictures has officially slated Sonic the Hedgehog 4 for a March 19, 2027 release, as reported by Variety. This announcement comes two years after the phenomenal success of Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

The anticipation is palpable following Sonic the Hedgehog 3's impressive box office performance, raking in $218 million domestically and over $420 million worldwide. This makes it the highest-grossing film in the franchise, surpassing the already successful first installment's $148 million. This achievement is particularly noteworthy considering the initial controversy surrounding the original Sonic design.

Furthermore, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 secured the title of the second highest-grossing video game movie in North America, trailing only the animated Super Mario Bros. Movie. The rivalry between Nintendo and Sega continues to play out on the big screen!

The live-action Sonic franchise continues to expand, boasting three feature films and a Knuckles-centric spin-off series. The films, based on the beloved Sega games, follow Sonic (Ben Schwartz) as he battles his arch-nemesis, Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey).
