Star Wars: Hunters, Zynga's inaugural venture into the Star Wars franchise, is set to close its doors a little over a year after its debut on iOS and Android platforms. Launched in June 2024, the game quickly captured attention with its unique blend of game show flair and innovative takes on classic Star Wars archetypes.

However, it has been announced that Star Wars: Hunters will cease operations on October 1st of this year. A final content update is scheduled to go live on April 15th. In response to the shutdown, players can now seek refunds for their in-game currency, and the game's third season will be extended, featuring reruns of certain seasonal events.

Fans eagerly awaiting the introduction of the final hunter, Tuya, will still have the chance to experience them in multiplayer. Tuya will be introduced with the final content update and will be available to all players for free from the start.

Story's Over

The announcement of Star Wars: Hunters' closure came as a surprise, as there were few signs that the game was underperforming. Given Zynga's robust standing in the industry, it suggests that the decision to shutter the game might be influenced by broader strategic considerations.

One potential reason could be the oversaturation of the pseudo-hero shooter genre, which may have diluted the audience for Star Wars: Hunters. Additionally, the typical Star Wars fan base is aging, and this demographic might not be as keen on high-octane multiplayer mobile games.

For those who haven't yet tried Star Wars: Hunters, there's still time to dive in before the game is discontinued. Don't miss out on experiencing it firsthand, and be sure to check out our tier list of Hunters in SW: Hunters ranked by class for the best gameplay strategies!
