Exciting news for fans of *Stellar Blade* — developer Shift Up has officially confirmed that a full-fledged sequel is in the works. The announcement came as part of the company’s latest financial report, which included a detailed roadmap highlighting upcoming projects and franchise expansions.

Originally released in April 2024, *Stellar Blade* quickly gained attention for its engaging gameplay, drawing comparisons to titles like *NieR: Automata* and *Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice*. Critics and players praised its intense combat mechanics and visual presentation, although some noted shortcomings in narrative depth and side content design.

What’s Next for Stellar Blade?

According to Shift Up's newly released development timeline, the *Stellar Blade* sequel is listed as the next major entry following other planned titles set for release before 2027. Before the sequel launches, the original game will see a “platform expansion,” which is widely believed to refer to the previously announced PC version arriving on June 11, 2025.

This multi-year development window also includes the launch of Shift Up’s enigmatic new project, *Project Witches*, an upcoming multiplatform action RPG that remains under wraps for now.

Stellar Blade - Developer Roadmap Showing Sequel Plans

Stellar Blade Sequel Listed in Expansion Plan

The roadmap slide shared by Shift Up clearly places the *Stellar Blade* sequel as a top priority moving forward, reinforcing the studio’s commitment to expanding one of its most successful franchises. While specific details about the sequel remain scarce, the inclusion in the chart signals a long-term investment in the series’ growth across platforms and genres.

In related news, Shift Up recently addressed concerns surrounding a regional lock issue affecting the Steam store page of *Stellar Blade*. The developer stated it is “closely discussing” the matter with Sony, aiming to resolve access restrictions that have blocked users in over 100 countries from viewing or purchasing the game on PC.

“Stellar Blade stands out as a gorgeous and well-crafted action game with very impressive strengths and very clear weaknesses,” IGN wrote in its review.
“Both its story and characters lack substance, and some of its RPG elements are poorly implemented, like dull sidequests that very often require you to retrace your steps through previous levels with very little done to make the return trip feel unique or rewarding. But its action picks up most of that slack thanks to the rock-solid fundamentals of its Sekiro-inspired combat system, a deep well of hideous monstrosities to sharpen your sword against, and plenty of hidden goodies that do a great job of incentivizing exploration throughout.”

With a confirmed sequel and continued support for the existing title, including potential improvements and expanded platform availability, *Stellar Blade* is poised to become a flagship franchise for Shift Up in the years ahead.
