After months of speculation, Nintendo has officially announced the Nintendo Switch 2. A brief teaser trailer showcased a refined design while retaining the hybrid functionality of its predecessor.

The trailer highlighted key design improvements: a larger screen, a more robust kickstand, and magnetically attaching Joy-Cons—a significant change from the original Switch's rails. A second USB-C port was also confirmed.

Backward compatibility is confirmed for both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games, although Nintendo acknowledged that some titles may have limited or no support on the Switch 2. Further details on compatibility will be released later on the Nintendo website. Nintendo Switch Online functionality will also carry over.
