Rey Dau is the inaugural dragon monster you'll meet in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. This creature wields the lightning element, rendering it immune to lightning-based attacks. However, it's notably vulnerable to water and ice. Targeting its head, which has a 4-star weakness, is the most effective strategy. Alternatively, attacking its wings, which have a 3-star weakness, is also viable.

Avoid striking its torso, as it's heavily armored. While the head can be challenging to hit, the tail presents a more accessible target. The legs are less ideal due to their robust protection. For status ailments, all options except Stun and Paralysis are effective against Rey Dau.

Use a Flash Pod

A potent tactic for swiftly defeating Rey Dau is deploying a Flash Pod. This tool temporarily stuns the monster, providing an opportunity to land precise hits. When Rey Dau unleashes its lightning attack, aim for its horns, which will glow bright red in Focus Mode, to inflict substantial damage.

Wear Element-Resistant Gear

To endure the battle, equip gear that enhances your elemental resistance. The Hope Armor set, featuring the Divine Blessing skill, is an excellent choice as it reduces damage and provides resistance to Lightning and Fire. Additionally, consuming meals that boost elemental resistance can be beneficial. If dodging proves challenging, position yourself near Rey Dau's legs, as the monster primarily targets areas in front and behind it, minimizing your risk of being hit.

Pay Attention to the Environment

Rey Dau frequently changes its position during combat. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps found on a solitary tree to momentarily stun the dragon. Exercise caution when it returns to its nest, as it may follow up with a lightning attack capable of stunning you. Patience is key to avoid being zapped.

How to Capture Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds

In addition to defeating Rey Dau, you can earn rewards by capturing it. Reduce its health until it's nearly dead, indicated by a skull icon near its icon on the mini-map. Then, deploy a trap to capture the dragon. Given Rey Dau's immunity to lightning, avoid using Shock Traps. Instead, opt for a Pitfall Trap and quickly follow up with a Tranquilizer to prevent escape. Timing is critical, so be prepared to act swiftly.
