⚫︎ Capcom is highlighting Onimusha: Way of the Sword at PAX West, with a special panel set for August 30 at 2 p.m. PT. The panel will feature the first public look at an all-new battle. Viewers can attend the presentation live at the Main Theatre or watch on the official Capcom USA Twitch channel.

⚫︎ Capcom has revealed its Tokyo Game Show 2025 lineup, including Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The publisher will also showcase mobile games like Monster Hunter Outlanders and Resident Evil: Survival Unit, alongside current titles such as Street Fighter 6 and Monster Hunter Wilds.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, due next year, is also slated to appear. Capcom will announce further details regarding playable demos soon, with a pre-recorded Special Program scheduled for September 24 at 7 AM PT.

⚫︎ Onimusha: Way of the Sword will avoid following modern gaming trends like open-world design or Soulslike challenge, according to director Satoru Nihei. Speaking to Automaton on June 19, Nihei explained that the new title builds on the core elements that defined the Onimusha series, focusing on fluid, violent action rather than punishing difficulty.

“This is not an open-world game, and it is definitely not a die-and-retry experience,” Nihei stated. The game represents the series' first mainline release in two decades.

⚫︎ A fresh trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword introduces Sasaki Ganryu, a rival swordsman who also possesses an Oni Gauntlet. It previews a showdown with Musashi, the comeback of the Issen counter system, fresh combat abilities, surreal settings, and two new Genma enemies.

Although it honors the series’ roots, the game will not tie directly to earlier Onimusha entries, acting as a clean slate for the franchise.

⚫︎ Capcom has debuted a new trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, providing more details about its hero and world. Set in a warped rendition of early Edo-period Kyoto, the plot revolves around the spread of a strange phenomenon known as the Malice.

The trailer displays the expressive protagonist fighting through nightmarish creatures, highlighting the game’s fast-paced sword combat and eerie atmosphere. First revealed in December 2024, the title is scheduled to release in 2026.
