"Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Nears 2 Million Sales, Boosts Embracer"
Embracer has celebrated the remarkable success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, with the game nearing the 2 million sales mark. The sequel to Warhorse Studios' medieval Europe action role-playing game sold an astonishing 1 million copies within just one day of its launch on February 4, and impressively, it nearly doubled that figure within just 10 days.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has seen tremendous success across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S platforms. Embracer highlighted the game's strong performance on Steam, where it achieved over 250,000 peak concurrent players. For comparison, the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance reached a peak of 96,069 concurrent players on Steam seven years ago. It's important to note that the actual peak concurrent player count for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is likely higher, considering its availability on consoles, though specific numbers from Sony and Microsoft are not publicly disclosed.
Embracer, through its subsidiary Plaion, owns Warhorse Studios and praised the game's success in terms of player and critic reception as well as its commercial performance. Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors commended the dedication and hard work of Warhorse Studios and publisher Deep Silver. He expressed strong confidence in the game's ability to generate substantial revenue in the coming years, emphasizing the game's high quality, immersion, and appeal. Wingefors also mentioned Warhorse Studios' plan to support the game with updates and new content over the next 12 months, ensuring a continually evolving experience for the community.
Beyond Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Embracer is looking forward to the release of Killing Floor 3 later this quarter (January to March 2025). The company boasts over 5,000 game developers working on upcoming titles, with 10 triple-A games planned for release over the next three financial years (FY 2025/26, FY 2026/27, and FY 2027/28). Eight of these are being developed by internal studios, and two by external studios.
For FY 2025/26, Embracer has scheduled two triple-A game releases towards the end of the financial year. Additionally, mid-size releases planned include Gothic 1 Remake, REANIMAL, Fellowship, Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, Titan Quest II, Screamer, Echoes of the End (working title), Tides of Tomorrow, Satisfactory (console), and the full release of Wreckfest 2, along with other mid-sized games yet to be announced.
Despite recent challenges, including layoffs and the sale of several studios such as Gearbox and Saber Interactive, Embracer continues to own Metro developer 4A Games, which is currently developing a new game in the series.
