"Oblivion Remastered Update Causes Visual Glitches; Bethesda Seeks Fix"

Author : Ryan Jul 08,2025

*The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered* has hit a rough patch just days after its re-release, leaving PC players scrambling. A surprise update rolled out today without prior notice or detailed patch notes, and unfortunately, it introduced more issues than fixes for many users.

One of the biggest complaints centers around the removal of upscaling options—specifically DLSS and FSR—leaving performance-heavy hits on systems that relied on these technologies to maintain smooth frame rates. Players are now stuck with significantly lower framerates and no way to adjust settings back.

"Yoooo why would @virtuosgames push an update to Oblivion Remastered that removes all upscaling right before the game’s first weekend?!!?

No DLSS
No FSR

RIP playable performance....

A Reddit user echoed similar frustrations, noting that while the upscaling toggle appears clickable, it fails to respond. Even after restarting the game or adjusting settings externally via the NVIDIA app, the issue remains unresolved. One player even described being locked into 40–60 FPS despite running a powerful setup featuring a Ryzen 5800X3D and an RTX 5080.

While some users have not experienced significant performance drops, others are facing visual inconsistencies and UI bugs related to anti-aliasing and rendering settings. These problems have left many disappointed as they attempt to enjoy *Oblivion Remastered’s* launch weekend.

Bethesda Responds

Bethesda has finally acknowledged the situation through an official support post. According to their statement, the unexpected update was only intended to include “a few backend tweaks” and should not have directly affected gameplay mechanics.

The issue seems to be isolated to PC versions purchased through the Microsoft Store, where players are unable to modify existing graphical settings due to a broken UI. Bethesda confirmed that previously adjusted settings still apply and function correctly, but users can’t change them until the fix is released.

“The team is taking a look and working out a resolution,” Bethesda assured fans. “We will share more info as soon as we can.”

As of now, there's no official timeline for when the bug will be resolved. Console players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S appear unaffected and can continue enjoying the remastered version without interruption.
