It’s 2025, and Sony PlayStation has officially entered the fight stick arena with its very own wireless model designed for both PS5 and PC.

According to Edwin Foo, VP of product development at Sony Interactive Entertainment, this new controller — internally dubbed Project Defiant — is all about giving players "more flexibility to enjoy their favorite fighting games" whether they're on console or PC.

Sony highlights ultra-low latency connectivity in wireless mode, ensuring that every precise input lands exactly when it should. For those who prefer a wired setup — especially competitive players where timing is everything — that option remains available too.

The design prioritizes ergonomics and performance, featuring a high-quality digital stick custom-built by Sony, along with toolless, interchangeable restrictor gates. Gamers can easily switch between square, circular, or octagonal gates depending on their style, with extra gates stored neatly inside the controller when not in use. A convenient sling carry case is also included for easy transport.
