Ninja Gaiden Returns with Spencer's Support
Team Ninja's long-awaited Ninja Gaiden 4 is finally on the horizon, a project years in the making, according to producer Fumihiko Yasuda. The studio struggled to solidify a concept until discussions involving Koei Tecmo president Hisashi Koinuma, PlatinumGames head Atsushi Inaba, and ultimately, Xbox's Phil Spencer, led to a collaborative effort between the three companies.
Spencer confirmed initial talks dating back to 2017, eventually culminating in a partnership with PlatinumGames, whose expertise in high-octane action titles like Bayonetta and NieR: Automata, proved the ideal fit for the project.
The surprise announcement last week was accompanied by a simultaneous re-release of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, a remastered version of the Xbox 360 classic, now available on Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC.
Early footage showcases Ryu Hayabusa as the protagonist in this action-packed title. Ninja Gaiden 4 introduces innovative gameplay mechanics, including dynamic traversal using wires and rails, a significant departure from previous installments.
While DOOM: The Dark Ages dominated the Developer_Direct showcase, the reveal of Ninja Gaiden 4, a highly anticipated addition to the Koei Tecmo franchise, generated considerable excitement. The game is slated for release in Fall 2025.
