REPO's Overcharge and Difficulty Scaling are Getting Major Tweaks, Says Developer

The developers of REPO are set to make significant adjustments to the game's difficulty scaling, introducing new mechanics every 10 levels. Dive into the details of the upcoming changes to the Overcharge mechanic and get insights into the developers' activities during the game's open beta.

REPO Development Updates

Overcharge Overhaul

During REPO's recent open beta, developer Semiwork gathered crucial feedback from fans. One key aspect they focused on was the Overcharge mechanic.

The Overcharge feature lets players pick up and throw enemies onto hard surfaces or away from their team as a counter move. However, this isn't something players can do freely; an overcharge meter will fill up, and if it reaches its limit, the player will explode.

Originally introduced at the game's outset, the developers have now decided to unlock the Overcharge mechanic when players reach level 10. Moreover, they plan to roll out new difficulty-increasing mechanics every 10 levels (at levels 20, 30, and beyond), with Overcharge being the first in this series of scaled challenges.

These new mechanics will be deeply intertwined with the game's lore. As Semiwork explained, "So this system will be also tied to lore. It won’t be just a gimmick for no reason. There will be something attached to this and we will share more details in the future."

In an effort to connect with the community, Semiwork developers participated in the open beta's random matchmaking. Pontus Sundstrom, a developer at Semiwork, expressed his delight in seeing players enjoy the new additions to the game.

He shared, "And I've also actually played with a lot of you guys - incognito, in secret, through the random matchmaking in the servers." Sundstrom further noted, "And I've been asking some questions and finding out what you guys find fun, stuff like that."

With the valuable feedback received during the open beta, Semiwork is committed to enhancing REPO. Players can anticipate exciting updates on the horizon, and the developers have assured more information will be released soon.
