Fans of *Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2* are buzzing with excitement after the game's developer, Saber Interactive, empowered the modding community by releasing their internal editor, the Integration Studio, for public use. This move is seen as a game-changer, sparking hopes that *Space Marine 2* could emulate the longevity of *Skyrim* through user-generated content. Game director Dmitry Grigorenko shared the news on the game's modding Discord, marking it as a significant step towards supporting the modding scene.

The Integration Studio, previously used only by the developers for all aspects of gameplay development, now allows modders to delve into everything from level scenarios and game modes to AI behavior, abilities, melee combo logic, user interfaces, and HUD elements. This toolset is expected to streamline and enhance the modding process significantly. Grigorenko expressed his enthusiasm for the community's growth and creativity, eagerly anticipating the new experiences modders will craft, whether they be cinematic campaigns, novel game modes, or unexpected surprises.

To kick things off, Grigorenko shared humorous concept art for a potential "Fishing With Daddy Calgar" mini-game, featuring Marneus Calgar, the leader of the Ultramarines. This playful challenge has already set the community racing to create this unique mod.

In a conversation with Tom, known as Warhammer Workshop and the mind behind the acclaimed Astartes Overhaul mod for *Space Marine 2*, he shared his plans to leverage the new scripting tools. These tools, which control mission dynamics and game components like weapons and abilities, open up possibilities such as creating a roguelite mode where players start with minimal gear and face escalating challenges. Tom suggested that defeating a formidable enemy like a Carnifex could reward players with powerful weapons like a Heavy Bolter.

While a new cinematic campaign featuring Chaos is feasible, Tom noted that crafting cutscenes remains challenging due to the lack of animation tools. However, he's set to introduce new factions such as the Tau and Necrons, using the available rigs. Meanwhile, the community is actively working on the "Fishing With Daddy Calgar" mini-game mod.

The response from *Space Marine 2* fans has been overwhelmingly positive. Although the game is well-received and among the best-selling Warhammer video games, it has been limited to three factions: Space Marines, Chaos, and Tyrannids. With the modding tools now available, fans can expand the game's universe themselves, especially since the campaign hinted at the inclusion of Necrons. This development could indeed keep the game alive and thriving for years, much like *Skyrim*.

This news comes at an interesting time, as Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment have announced *Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3* is in development. While some fans worry about the future of *Space Marine 2* DLC, both companies have reassured that they will continue to support the current game. With modders now equipped with powerful tools, *Space Marine 2* is poised for a vibrant future.
